Gabriela-Dumitrița STANCIU

Gabriela Dumitrița STANCIU is a Senior Researcher and Designated Veterinarian of the Animal Facility of Advanced Center for Research and Development in Experimental Medicine „Prof. Ostin C. Mungiu” – CEMEX – part of “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi. She has a university degree in Law and Veterinary Medicine (“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, USAMV-Iași and Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort, Paris, France); with doctoral studies in Semiology and Medical Pathology (USAMV- Iași and Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK).

Through participation in international internships (at the University of Crete, Greece; Sorbonne University, Paris, France), Dr. Stanciu has consolidated her knowledge of health surveillance programs; the principle of the 3Rs; legislation, ethics, and societal views on laboratory animals. Additionally, Dr. Stanciu has shown a particular interest in identifying and developing non-animal alternative models in biomedical research, highlighting her concern for finding solutions that blend scientific rigor with ethical imperatives.

As a researcher, Dr. Stanciu has continued to translate basic research into neurological practice, focusing particularly on neurodegenerative conditions and, specifically, on investigating future therapies for the prevention and/or treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Furthermore, she is accredited by Louisiana State University for testing potential brainstem auditory evoked responses (BAER) in animals.
