Gabriela Dumitrița STANCIU

Gabriela Dumitrița STANCIU is a Scientific Researcher and Designated Veterinarian of the Animal Facility of Advanced Center for Research and Development in Experimental Medicine „Prof. Ostin C. Mungiu” – CEMEX – part of “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi. She has a university degree in Law and Veterinary Medicine (“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, USAMV-Iași and Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort, Paris, France); with doctoral studies in Semiology and Medical Pathology (USAMV- Iași and Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK).
In the pursuit of the protection and welfare of animals used for scientific purposes and development of non-animal methods on biomedical research, Dr. Stanciu attended international internships at University of Crete, Greece and Sorbonne University, Paris, France.
As an active researcher, Dr. Stanciu continued her excellent track record, translating basic research into neurological practice, with a significant scientific output in neurodegenerative diseases and especially in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and publications in Q1 or Q2 journals, as main author (Stanciu GD et al., Biomedicines, 9, 576, 2021; Stanciu GD et al., Biomolecules, 10, 40, 2020; Stanciu GD et al., Journal of Clinical Medicine, 9, 1713, 2020; Stanciu GD et al., Brain Sciences, 10, 563, 2020). The continued interest in research on future therapies for the prevention and treatment of AD as well as Dr. Stanciu’s extensive experience as member in larger projects, lead to her being awarded 2 grants as Project Coordinator (number 4715/25.02.2021; Preclinical evaluation of canagliflozin as a dual acetylcholinesterase and sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor in a mice model of scopolamine-induced Alzheimer’s disease-like condition; and Preclinical studies on selective CB2 cannabinoids and donepezil combined therapy in Alzheimer’s disease, PN-III-P1-1.1-PD-2021-0466, PD 4/2022 – UEFISCDI).
Having published 2 books and 7 book chapters, more than 50 articles in international journals, Dr. Stanciu is also a constant participant of major international conferences with over 25 conference abstracts. She has more than 450 citations in ISI Web of Knowledge Core Collection with a Hirsch-index of 11. She is a member in 11 research grants, and was awarded in national and international events with 5 awards/ distinctions. She is also accredited by Louisiana State University for brainstem auditory evoked responses (BAERs) testing.
